About

Overview

Promoting diversity and empowering young underprivileged women.

Building Women is a dynamic and forward-thinking social initiative committed to reshaping the landscape of the construction industry in Nigeria by promoting diversity and empowering young underprivileged women. Founded on the belief that every individual, regardless of gender or background, deserves equal opportunities, Building Women aims to break down barriers and create a more inclusive workforce within the construction sector.

Young women constitute the largest single source of unskilled construction labourers yet they are not truly represented on construction sites; a traditionally male dominated, and closed to women sector of the economy.

Presently on building sites, you rarely find women working and where they work at all it is at the end of the workforce engaged with unskilled components; carriers of sand, gravel, fetching water and other menial tasks, while the men populate the skilled work component.

Currently, on construction sites, the presence of women is a rare sight. When women do participate, they are often relegated to the lower echelons of the workforce, typically handling unskilled tasks such as carrying sand and gravel, fetching water, and other menial tasks.

Building Women aims to empower young women to enter the construction market both as unskilled and skilled workers thus providing relevant opportunities to increase their income and daily livelihood.
